Antique English Bamboo Slipper Chair with Caned Seat and Casters, 19th Century

A charming antique English slipper chair with a tall, graceful bamboo frame, woven ratttan seat and original brass casters. The bamboo shows a beautiful mottled, tortoiseshell-like patina in honey and dark brown tones.

The chair captures the late Victorian and Edwardian fascination with Asian-inspired design, popular in Europe and America at the turn of the century.

Its low seat makes it ideal as a slipper chair in a bedroom or by the fireplace, and is equally charming as a sculptural accent in any room.
