Antique French Vide-Poche Side Table, 19th Century

A charming antique French vide-poche, the small table traditionally placed beside the bed or by the door to hold the contents of one's pockets at the end of the day. The top is a shallow tray with a raised gallery, designed to keep small objects from slipping off, set above a single drawer with a small brass knob.

Below, two shelves in a diamond shape are set between slender uprights, an elegant and distinctive detail that gives the table a light, open look.
