Sculptural Bronze Lidded Box, Signed G. Quadrio

A hand-cast bronze box signed "G. Quadrio" in the base. The domed lid is modeled into soft, folded lobes that gather toward a flattened crown, like petals or the skin of a ripe fruit. It rests on a shallow, organically shaped dish. 

The surface is richly textured and clearly shaped by hand. It carries a beautiful natural patina in warm golden bronze and deeper copper tones.

Guido Quadrio was a Sicilian painter and sculptor who exhibited widely in Italy from the 1960s to the 1980s.
